Chinese New Year is upon us and ABC has got your back with the "Do's and Dont's" of the holiday:
DO!
- Do say "gong xi fa cai" wishing people to make a fortune in the new year
- Do wear the lucky color red
- Do wear new clothes
- Do give children and single people little red envelopes with cash inside
- Do let kids stay up extra late (means a longer life for the parents)
DON'T!
- Don't cut or wash your hair (you will cut off or wash away your luck for the year)
- Don't sweep your floors or take out garbage (you will sweep or throw away your luck)
- Don't wear white (the traditional color of mourning)
- Don't drop your chopsticks
- Don't borrow or lend money
