Chinese New Year is upon us and ABC has got your back with the "Do's and Dont's" of the holiday:

DO!

• Do say "gong xi fa cai" wishing people to make a fortune in the new year
• Do wear the lucky color red
• Do wear new clothes
• Do give children and single people little red envelopes with cash inside
• Do let kids stay up extra late (means a longer life for the parents)

DON'T!

• Don't cut or wash your hair (you will cut off or wash away your luck for the year)
• Don't sweep your floors or take out garbage (you will sweep or throw away your luck)
• Don't wear white (the traditional color of mourning)
• Don't drop your chopsticks
  
• Don't borrow or lend money
